Funny Videos - Your Online Resource of Instant Humor

"Laughter is the medicine." However clichéd this might sound there's no denying the truth of the statement. More often than not, we come across people who are over-stressed, hardly having the urge even to force a smile. In most cases, people do realize the need for refreshing humor, which would take away the burden of their stressful lives and fill them with fresh energy. But unfortunately, they lack sufficient time to venture out of their homes with the sole motive of entertaining themselves. Thankfully, the Internet has a lot of scope for those who feel the urge to chill out and have a bite of quick humor just at the click of a mouse!

Analyzing the current scenario, there has been a major upsurge in the number of funny videos and funny pictures over the Internet. There are numerous video blogging sites hosting funny video clips or pictures for people to have a hearty laugh. The success of YouTube has clearly revealed the inclination of people towards humor. So what accounts for the sudden rise in the popularity of these funny videos and pictures? A close observation of the trend might lead us to trace the psychological workings of the people's minds at large.

To begin with, it's not always the hunt for instant humor that can be held responsible for the rising popularity of fun-oriented websites. The visual appeal of funny videos is a major source of attraction, drawing the attention of a majority of people. The fact that things presented visually have a greater appeal can hardly be negated. Even movies, inspired from bestsellers, gain much more popularity than their original counterpart; the reason being the way in which they appeal to the eyes. If humor is sought as a pastime, it would not be conceivable for most of us to read books on wit and humor. This, of course, depends on a person's taste but as commonly observed, reading becomes an even more remote possibility when one takes into consideration the numerous entertainment options available on the Internet.

The Greatest Comical Science Fiction Books

If you think science fiction books are not your cup of tea, then please think again and read this article. Among the myriad science fiction novels written, most of them are not worth remembering or even reading. But a few of them will stay in our collective memories as genial works of literature. Maybe one day science fiction will receive as much credentials as "normal" literature.

Amid the best SF books available, there is a genre which draws my attention. This genre is comical SF. Humor is a virtue that touches everybody. According to philosopher Henri Bergson, laughing is the only quality that distinguishes humans from animals. As humor has a universal appeal, one may not especially enjoy science fiction stories, but might well enjoy these very funny and immensely genial masterworks.

Many science fiction authors have a talent for humor. Among those we can mention Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein, Frederik Pohl and Kurt Vonnegut (if you consider him a SF writer). These authors have an easy prose filled with witty protagonists. But some science fiction books stand out for their comical genius.

"Poodles, Tigers, Monsters & You" by LW Lewis - Book Review

"Poodles, Tigers, Monsters & You," by L. W. Lewis, is a funny book full of poems that both my brother and I enjoyed fully. Humor is prevalent throughout the book, making it an entertaining read.

This would be a great read-aloud book, because the rhythm is enjoyable, and there is ever-present humor in all of the verses. Also, most of the poems are short, making it wonderful bedtime book. When you begin to read a poem, it appears serious, but there is always a funny twist at the end, making the poem seem much more comical than at first glance.

The illustrations are laugh-provoking, showing the offspring of a poodle and a tiger, pictures of green-toothed monsters, and a barbequed Barbie, and many, many others, all just as hilarious.

Books to Ignite a Love of Reading in Your Boy!

What books can we give our boys to teach them to love reading at a young age? What holds their interest and sparks a love of reading and knowledge? As a parent, you wonder what you can do to entice your boy to read, and not to fight them just to pick up a book. After months of trial and error with different genres, writing styles, and subjects, I found seven books that will spark a boy's interest and keep it.

George and Harold are two elementary school boys who love to draw and make up stories, so they decide to make comics for themselves. They are about a character they make up called Captain Underpants, who later becomes their principal! The series promotes creativity and encourages kids to draw or write their own comics. The unique and easy to follow writing style of the author insures that your boy will not become bored or frustrated by trying to figure out big words. The pictures throughout the book are fun and ensure that your boy will spend hours laughing over this book and will want to read it again and again. And luckily, there are more novels in this series!

Since we enjoyed this author's writing style so much, we decided to try this series to see if the author's writing had the same endearing qualities, and we were not disappointed. With monsters from space, robots, and silly words and phrases, your boy will enjoy every minute in the pages of this book. There are no complicated or large words, and there are pictures on every page. As is consistent with the author's style, the book encourages art by providing instructions on how to draw the characters at the end of every book in the series!

This series has differing themes throughout, such as space travel, gigantic jawbreakers, stinky shoes, and treasure hunts. This author also writes the Judy Moody series, and the main character, Stink, is Judy's younger brother. The books are easy to read and follow, with great jokes and silly situations that will keep your boy highly entertained, and excited for the next book. The pictures are detailed and just as entertaining as the story, and some books even have color pictures. This is a fun entertaining series that your boy will want more of.

Choosing a Gift Book for a Child

Books make wonderful gifts, but it can be hard to select the right book. As publishers of children's books, we are often asked for advice on selecting a book for a birthday or holiday gift. Here are suggestions about how to select the perfect book to give to your niece, nephew, friend's child, or grandchild.

* Knowing age and gender does help. Now we know you may not remember exactly how old the child was at their last birthday, but being in the ballpark is useful. If the child is preschool age, you will choose different material than if they are in high school. Also, if you don't see the child often enough to know about their interests, knowing whether you are choosing a book for a boy or girl can help define what type of book will be welcome.

* Talk with the child's parents. Ask about the child's current interests, activities, or hobbies. Books related to what a child is doing make great gifts. You can find books specifically about the topic or books which incorporate the topic as part of a story. For instance, if the child is fascinated by snakes, you could choose a scientifically-oriented book with pictures and information about snakes or you could choose a story book featuring a snake.

* Be sensitive to family values. Make your gift a happy addition to the family rather than a bone of contention. The most common issue is religious content. Most parents we talk to do not want books for their children which press any particular religious point of view. We have heard this from people of all faith backgrounds. Other content on which you would want to understand the parents' position, or simply avoid, include level of violence, sexual content, and sexual orientation. These all tend to be areas which require a certain level of maturity to deal with and parents will know best whether their child is ready to deal with content like this.
